Institutional recognition through independent evaluation

Certification

Certification is a central instrument for securing quality, transparency and trust. CIFA regards certification not as a marketing distinction but as an institutional process based on clearly defined criteria, independent evaluation and traceable principles.

CIFA is not a regulatory authority but an independent body enabling orientation and comparability at international level.

The CIFA Certification System

The system rests on a multi-stage, transparent approach. What is certified is always structure, quality and responsibility — never a single service or a product.

  • clearly defined criteria
  • traceable evaluation processes
  • institutional responsibility
  • regular review

Evaluation and recognition process

  1. Examination of institutional preconditions
  2. Assessment against the relevant quality, education and ethics standards
  3. Documented decision-making
  4. Institutional recognition within the CIFA system

The CIFA Commendation

The CIFA Commendation is the highest form of institutional recognition within the CIFA system. It is conferred on organisations that demonstrate an exceptional degree of quality, responsibility and commitment beyond the regular certification requirements.

It does not follow automatically from certification but is a deliberate, selective recognition based on extended criteria:

  • sustained institutional quality
  • particular responsibility in an educational or quality context
  • exemplary ethical conduct
  • long-term effect and integrity

Modular structure

The Certification System is modular and allows different levels of classification and recognition. This multi-stage approach permits a differentiated view without imposing standardised one-size-fits-all models. Who can be certified, and against what, follows from the application area.
