General terms and conditions

Certification terms

These terms govern CIFA's institutional certification services within the CIFA Certification System.

1Application

Certification requires a formal application. Submitting an application confers no entitlement to certification.

2Assessment and decision

CIFA assesses applications on the basis of defined standards, governance principles and institutional criteria, and decides on acceptance, acceptance subject to conditions, or rejection. A statement of reasons for the decision is not mandatory.

3Validity and review

Certification is granted for a defined period. CIFA is entitled to carry out periodic review or reassessment. Continued compliance with the standards is a condition of maintaining certification.

4Use of the certification designation

Certified institutions may use the designation while it is valid, in an institutional context, and in accordance with the design rules.

Prohibited in particular are alteration of logos, combination with third-party seals, any use after expiry, and any misleading presentation. The same applies to the CIFA Commendation and to membership designations. In case of breach, CIFA may withdraw the right of use.

5Contributions and fees

Certification procedures may involve institutional contributions defined in the individual offer. Assessment procedures already begun are generally non-refundable.

6Withdrawal or suspension

CIFA may suspend or withdraw a certification in the event of breach of standards, misleading communication, disregard of institutional requirements, or default in payment.

7Liability

CIFA is liable solely in cases of intent or gross negligence. Liability for consequential economic loss is excluded.
